Our Mount Rainier story:
When I was 18, I was in the Army. A buddy and I decided we were going to learn to ski. We rented skis and drove to Mount Rainier. Neither one of us had ever been to a ski resort before. We got lift tickets and decided to take the tallest lift we could find to give us more opportunity to practice. We were wearing jeans and the old canvas army jackets. Neither one of us broke anything, but it took us almost 3 hours to get back to the chairlift. We were both soaked and almost frozen. I did eventually learn to ski on Mount Rainier after paying attention to the signs and getting appropriate skiing attire, but definitely not on my first visit!
